Sharing Pie & Experiences

I have friends named Kathy and Rick. I have been after Kathy through Rick to make me some banana cream pie. Well, I finally got a pie last week, and, boy, was I looking forward to enjoying that pie. But, last week I met some new friends who are in Savannah for the summer as staff for the YouthWorks program. They will work with over 80 young people from around the country EACH WEEK for the next nine weeks, helping the youth find a means to serve the Savannah community and in the process develop a closer relationship to God. I decided that they deserved my pie, so I gave it to them. (I can get another one from Kathy & Rick!)

I got to meet some of those Youth Works kids and tell them a few things about homelessness and living with disabilities. And, about the consequences of drugs and alcohol. Those youth were doing volunteer work where I volunteer at Union Mission. At the end of their week, they wrote letters to their US Senators about the experience. When I next post, I will share some of their comments and a few photos.
